Stepping into a post-pandemic world, Bhaya is weaving sustainable tourism into their ‘New Normal’ cruises, including homestays and visits to community development programmes. Halong Bay’s unexpected ‘return to nature’, a positive side effect of the pandemic, has spurred the cruise company to become an even greater leader in sustainability and green tourism — from community and conservation projects for sustainable development to reducing their carbon footprint through eco-friendly daily on-board operations. In order to reduce plastic garbage in the bays, Bhaya Cruises has become a ‘non-plastic cruise’ by cutting down on single use plastics, using refillable water bottles and installing water refill stations on the boats.

As part of their CSR initiatives, the company set up Bhaya Community Farm on Viet Hai Village where villagers are taught to grow organic produce without the use of chemicals. The farm provides jobs and extra income for the villagers. Also in the village, they have set up the community-run Bhaya Café, which serves guests from Bhaya Cruises.

Bhaya Classic & Bhaya Premium – These boutique cruise brands bring superior comfort to every passenger at very reasonable rates but still with premium service. The larger Bhaya Classic offers a fun cruise; while the Bhaya Premium has fewer passengers and more privacy.

The Au Co Cruise – This brand sets the highest benchmark for cruising in Halong Bay. The attention to detail, the focus on the exclusive three day journey and the unique sites of interest reinforce the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
